Zakopane is situated at the foot of the Tatra Mountains in southern Poland close to the border with Slovakia. The Tatra Mountains are considerably smaller than both the Alps and Rockies however for pure beauty and vistas they are hard to beat.

Zakopane's ski areas are mainly privately owned slopes around the town with one larger area (Kasprowy Wierch). The ski areas have a variety of run and terrain and whether you are a complete beginner or expert rider, Zakopane is great for everyone.
